Not via email, chat, or phone.

In most likelihood, we’ll be in business for many years. Given that if we coordinate over email, WhatsApp, Google Docs, and Slack, then we’ll never build institutional memory and documentation of what we did and why did we do it.

Instead, we’ll see you at the Basecamp.

All Humane Club members receive access to our Basecamp (a website and mobile app) for coordination and support for your website. Within Basecamp, you receive two levels of support. The first is self-service with community and the second is private. You’ll be able to access Basecamp via your phone too.

Community Support

Inside of Basecamp, you’ll be invited to a project called ‘HQ: Help Desk 🐕‍🦺’. This is a forum available to all Humane Club members to access.

Private Support

Sometimes you’d want to discuss something privately. This is especially true when you are first setting up your website or are getting custom features built.

Hence, every Humane Club member receives a 1:1 private Basecamp project that is shared only between your team and Humane Club. The name of this project will be ‘Website: yourdomain.com’.

If you commission two websites from us, then you’ll receive two projects like this allowing for clear segregation of documentation.

To speed up coordination, you’ll receive six tools. Let’s look at them from the most useful to the least useful.

  • Quick Chat. While chat is good for quick coordination, it is not the ideal tool for long nuanced conversations. Instead, we encourage you to discuss directly in the Todos or ‘No Meetings, Meetings’ so you end up collecting documentation.
  • To-dos are for task management. Create lists and within lists groups. Finally within groups, you can create todos.
  • Docs & Files. Similar to Google Drive, this is where we upload files and write documents.
  • No Meetings, Meeting. In Facebook, you are able to write and edit these long posts to which your friends can react and comment. Messages is exactly that. We use it to pitch ideas to the team or showcase some work you have done and get feedback. Instead of calling online or in-person meetings, we encourage you to write a ‘message’ in detail and let your colleagues respond asynchronously as and when they have time.
  • Calendar. Similar to Google Calendar, Calendar is where we set our milestones, meetings, etc.
  • Email Forwards. Sometimes you might want to forward emails into the project for team members to discuss.
